Enhancement Advisory new packages: kmod-igb-rhel5u7

Advisory: RHEA-2012:0088-1
Type: Product Enhancement Advisory
Severity: N/A
Issued on: 2012-02-01
Last updated on: 2012-02-01
Affected Products: Red Hat Enterprise Linux (v. 5 server)
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Desktop (v. 5 client)

Details

New kmod-igb-rhel5u7 packages are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.

The kmod-igb-rhel5u7 packages provide kernel modules for controlling Intel
Gigabit Ethernet network devices.

The RHEA-2011:1792 advisory did not completely fix a problem with incorrect MAC
addresses on Intel I350 Gigabit Ethernet network devices. This problem is now
fixed with this enhancement update, which adds the kmod-igb-rhel5u7 packages to
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 as a part of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux Driver
Update Program. (BZ#773552)

The kmod-igb-rhel5u7 packages provide temporary drivers for the following
hardware beyond what was delivered in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.7:

* Intel I350 Gigabit Ethernet Adapters

Only users requiring temporary driver support for the specific hardware noted
above should install these packages. Unless a system includes the exact hardware
kmod-igb-rhel5u7 packages explicitly support, these packages must not be
installed.
