RHEA-2009:0191 - Product Enhancement Advisory
Synopsis
sudo enhancement update
Type/Severity
Product Enhancement Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
An updated sudo package that adds an enhancement is now available.
Description
The superuser do (sudo) utility allows system administrators to give
certain users the ability to run commands as root, while logging all
commands and arguments.
This updated sudo package upgrades sudo to upstream version 1.6.9. In
addition, this newer version of sudo possesses enhanced support for the
LDAP protocol, including sub-tree search instead of base search (one
tree-level only) for sudo rights objects. This allows system administrators
to categorize sudo rights in a tree, thus making them easier to manage.
Users of sudo are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which adds
this enhancement.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released
errata relevant to your system have been applied.
This update is available via Red Hat Network. Details on how to use
