Synopsis
ethtool enhancement update
Type/Severity
Product Enhancement Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
A new ethtool package that adds support for 10 Gigabit Ethernet network
adapters is now available.
Description
The ethtool utility allows the querying and changing of ethernet adapter
settings, such as speed, port, auto-negotiation, and PCI locations.
Kernel drivers for 10 Gigabit Ethernet controllers from Intel, Chelsio,
Neterion and other vendors ship as part of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Previous version of the ethtool utility did not report information from
these adapters properly, however. This updated package adds support for 10
Gigabit-specific diagnostics and capability reporting.
All users of ethtool should install this newly released package which adds
this enhancement.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released
errata relevant to your system have been applied.
