RHEA-2006:0445 - Product Enhancement Advisory
Synopsis
diskdumputils enhancement update
Type/Severity
Product Enhancement Advisory
Topic
Updated diskdumputils packages that add various enhancements are now
available.
Description
The diskdump utilities set up the kernel to save memory image to the
specified partition.
This update allows the swap partition to be used in lieu of a dedicated
dump partition. This requires that the administrator configure the
swap device as the DEVICE in /etc/sysconfig/diskdump.
This update introduces a new "diskdump-success" script which can be
customized and then copied to the /var/crash/scripts directory. If the
file exists in /var/crash/scripts, it will be executed upon a
successful diskdump operation.
This update prevents a diskdump startup failure when /usr is NFS mounted,
by moving its utility commands and scripts to /sbin.
Users of diskdump-utils should upgrade to these updated packages, which
provide these enhancements.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
This update is available via Red Hat Network. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:
up2date
This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
