RHEA-2006:0279 - Product Enhancement Advisory
Synopsis
glibc enhancement update
Type/Severity
Product Enhancement Advisory
Topic
Updated glibc packages that split timezone data files into a separate
tzdata package are now available.
Description
The GNU libc packages (known as glibc) contain the standard C libraries
used by applications.
This update separates the timezone data files into a separate tzdata
package, so that timezone updates can be done independently from glibc updates.
Users in the countries affected by future tzdata errata should upgrade to
this updated package together with the tzdata package and rerun timeconfig
to update the local timezone in /etc/localtime.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
This update is available via Red Hat Network. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:
up2date
This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
