Synopsis
glibc enhancement update
Type/Severity
Product Enhancement Advisory
Topic
An updated glibc package that adds daylight savings rule enhancements for
various countries is now available.
Description
The GNU libc packages (known as glibc) contain the standard C libraries
used by applications.
This update adjusts timezone files for USA (both changes planned for 2007
and later and Indiana changes for 2006), Australia, Canada, Haiti,
Nicaragua, Kazakhstan, Tunisia, Palestine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Jordan,
Cuba, Kyrgyzstan, Uruguay, Brazil and some other countries where daylight
savings rules have recently changed or are going to change in the near
future. This update provides corrections for daylight saving rules for
Iran, historical rules corrections for Japan, Poland, Northern Ireland and
Mali and timezone name change for East Timor.
Users in the specified countries should upgrade to this updated package and
rerun timeconfig to update the local timezone in /etc/localtime. Upgrading
this package is optional for users not in the specified countries.
