RHEA-2005:458 - Product Enhancement Advisory
Synopsis
New jfbterm package
Type/Severity
Product Enhancement Advisory
Topic
A newly added jfbterm package is now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux
3 Update 5.
Description
The jfbterm package contains a program to print several character sets,
such as Japanese Kanji, on a Linux framebuffer device. It takes advantage
of pseudo-TTY mechanisms to hook console output in the same way as KON. It
renders font on framebuffer device instead of VGA that is used by KON.
Since KON works only on x86 architectures, those not running on x86 could
not see the multi-byte characters on the console. This new application
allows other architectures other than x86 similar functionality.
All users that require jfbterm should install this newly included package.
