Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated packages that resolve various issues are now available for Red Hat
OpenStack Platform 8.0 director for RHEL 7, which is now Generally Available and supported.
Description
Changes to the openstack-tripleo-heat-templates component:
- Previously, there was a divergence in the default value for the ComputeHostnameFormat parameter between what was originally deployed for Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform 7.3 and the current default value in Red Hat OpenStack Platform 8.0 ("overcloud-compute-N" instead of "overcloud-novacompute-N"). This would cause upgraded compute nodes to have an incorrect setting for their host name, resulting in issues such as the node being listed twice in the output of 'nova hypervisor-list', and issues restarting existing instances. With this update, the value of ComputeHostnameFormat is now preserved during upgrade so that it does not change from the overcloud-compute-N pattern, allowing compute nodes to be upgraded correctly and to retain the same host name as that prior to the upgrade. (BZ#1324739)
- With this update, overcloud nodes can now be registered to Satellite 5 with the Red Hat OpenStack Platform director, and Satellite 5 can now provide package updates to overcloud nodes.
To register overcloud nodes with a Satellite 5 instance, pass the following options to the "openstack overcloud deploy" command:
- -rhel-reg
- -reg-method satellite
- -reg-org 1
- -reg-force
- -reg-sat-url https://<satellite-5-hostname>
- -reg-activation-key <satellite-5-activation-key> (BZ#1296568)
- Previously, the final stage of the upgrades process did not ensure that pacemaker cluster resources were being restarted properly. This would cause some resources to remain down after the upgrade was complete. For example, updating the password of the rabbit messaging service as part of an upgrade would mean that you would also need to restart all the services that communicate with this service such as neutron-server, but only after having restarted the rabbit service itself. Now, pacemaker resources are restarted during the final part of the upgrade, and the upgrade completes successfully with all pacemaker resources reported as "Started". (BZ#1321036)
Solution
Before applying this update, ensure all previously released errata relevant to your system have been applied.
Red Hat OpenStack Platform 8 runs on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2.
