Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated OpenStack Compute packages that resolve various issues are now
available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform 7.0 (Kilo) for
RHEL 7.
Description
Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform provides the facilities for
building a private or public infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) cloud
running on commonly available physical hardware. This advisory includes
packages for:
- OpenStack Compute service
OpenStack Compute (nova) launches and schedules large networks of virtual
machines, creating a redundant and scalable cloud computing platform.
Compute provides the software, control panels, and APIs required to
orchestrate a cloud, including running virtual machine instances and
controlling access through users and projects.
This update addresses the following issues:
- Due to a race condition between nova-scheduler and ironic, a node
already associated with an instance could be picked when deploying a number
of instances close to the number of available nodes. Consequently, the
deployment failed with a traceback. This update improves the way these
conflicts are handled. As a result, an attempt to pick another node is made
if the previously picked node is already taken. (BZ#1257950)
- Previously, if an instance failed while booting from a cinder volume
which had an iSCSI back end, the instance could not be deleted anymore.
With this update, cinder errors are ignored when shutting down. As a
result, nova can continue with the cleanup despite any exceptions, and
non-deletable instances no longer remain in the environment. (BZ#1291505)
- Unrelated multipath devices could be removed if they partially matched
the IQN and LUN ID of the device paths to remove. With this update, only
the devices whose names end with the desired IQN and LUN ID are removed.
(BZ#1298283)
- Nova did not handle the cases where an instance cell had an odd number
of vCPUs that was larger than any sibling set on the host. Nova either
rejected to pin such an instance even though there were enough free cores,
or spread the instance instead of packing it onto siblings. This update
fixes some incorrect assumptions and simplifies the source code, and it
also exposes the largest possible number of threads that can be exposed to
the instance. (BZ#1234901)
- Multiple concurrent attachment requests could cause corruption of the
nova instance info cache. Consequently, when an instance with multiple
interfaces was rebuilt or rebooted, not all the interfaces where present,
and those that were still present had different MAC addresses. With this
update, nova refreshes the info cache object from the database whilst
holding the refresh-cache lock, ensuring that changes are synchronized.
(BZ#1297635)
Solution
Before applying this update, ensure all previously released errata relevant
to your system have been applied.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform 7 runs on Red Hat Enterprise
Linux 7.2.
