Synopsis
qemu-kvm-rhev bug fix update

Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated qemu-kvm-rhev packages that fix two bugs are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Hypervisor 7.
Description
KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine) is a full virtualization solution for Linux on AMD64 and Intel 64 systems. The qemu-kvm-rhev packages provide the user-space component for running virtual machines using KVM in environments managed by Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager.
This update fixes the following bugs:
- Prior to this update, using an LVM (Logical Volume Manager) storage volume as an image for a guest after it was extended using lvextend caused a core dump due to incorrect handling of the changed storage volume. This update fixes storage volume handling so that LVM volumes can also be used as images after extending them. (BZ#1283987)
- Running two VMs with large memory requirements on IBM Power 8 hardware causes one VM to start properly and the other to fail to start, even though there is enough RAM for both. As the second VM cannot start, the error message for this failure was hidden from view. If the same problem occurs following this update, the error message: "Failed to allocate <VM> of requested size, try with smaller maxmem. Aborted (core dumped)" is displayed in the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Hypervisor. (BZ#1285337)
Users of qemu-kvm-rhev are advised to upgrade to these updated packages,
which fix these bugs. After installing this update, shut down all
running virtual machines. Once all virtual machines have shut down,
start them again for this update to take effect.
