Bug Fix Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated OpenStack Compute packages that resolve various issues are now
available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform 6.0 (Juno) for
RHEL 7.
Description
Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform provides the facilities for
building a private or public infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) cloud
running on commonly available physical hardware. This advisory includes
packages for:
- OpenStack Compute service
OpenStack Compute (nova) launches and schedules large networks of virtual
machines, creating a redundant and scalable cloud computing platform.
Compute provides the software, control panels, and APIs required to
orchestrate a cloud, including running virtual machine instances and
controlling access through users and projects.
This update addresses the following issues:
- With this update, a new workaround (rhosp_disk_io_policies) configuration
parameter is added to the nova.conf file, allowing you to select the IO
policy to use for various disk types. For example, you can now set
rhosp_disk_io_policies=file=threads,network=native. This allows you to
manually configure for performance. (BZ1222661)
- Overly strict restrictions on instances booted from a volume meant that
you could not resize it to a smaller size.
With this update, resizing an instance booted from a volume is supported
and as a result, you can resize an instance that was booted from a
volume. (BZ1244222)
- Due to a change in the default location for logs, Compute could no longer
log directly to 'syslog'.
With this update, the default /dev/log location has been restored. As a
result, Compute now honors the 'use_syslog=true' option. (BZ1243776)
