RHBA-2013:0894 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
Directory Server 8 Bug Fix Update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated Directory Server 8 packages that fix one bug are now available for Red
Hat Directory Server 8.
Description
The redhat-ds-base packages provide Red Hat Directory Server, which is an
LDAPv3-compliant server. The suite of packages includes the Lightweight
Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) server and command-line utilities for server
administration, the Administration Server HTTP agent package, and the GUI
console packages.
This update fixes the following bug:
- Previously, invalid DN syntax values were not allowed to be added to DN syntax
attributes, and were therefore deleted. Consequently, using replication could
cause a server failure when trying to replay these invalid values. To fix this
bug, normalization has been removed from the replication code, and a
configuration setting has been added to allow the invalid DN syntax values. As a
result, the server does not crash, and the invalid values are stored and
replicated correctly. (BZ#887361)
Users of Directory Server 8 are advised to upgrade to these updated packages,
which fix this bug.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure all previously-released errata relevant
to your system have been applied.
To update all RPMs for your particular architecture, run:
rpm -Fvh [filenames]
where [filenames] is a list of the RPMs you wish to upgrade. Only those RPMs
which are currently installed will be updated. Those RPMs which are not
installed but included in the list will not be updated. Note that you can also
use wildcards (*.rpm) if your current directory *only* contains the desired
RPMs.
Please note that this update is also available via Red Hat Network. Many people
find this an easier way to apply updates. To use Red Hat Network, launch the Red
Hat Update Agent with the following command:
up2date
This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
This update is available via the Red Hat Network. Details on how to use the Red
Hat Network to apply this update are available at
