Topic
An updated rhevm-migration-tool package that fixes various bugs is now
available.
Description
The rhevm-migration-tool package provides tools for migrating a Red Hat
Enterprise Virtualization 2.2 environment to Red Hat Enterprise
Virtualization 3.0.
This updated package fixes the following bugs:
- The migration tool previously stored the certificate for the
Certification Authority (CA) in DER format. This prevented users from
adding Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 and Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization
Hypervisor 6 hosts to the migrated environment, as they expect the
certificate to be in PEM format. The migration tool has been updated to
store the certificate in PEM format, allowing new hosts to be added to
migrated environments.
For environments where migration has already commenced the issue with the
certificate must be fixed manually as described in this knowledge base
article (BZ#815417):
https://access.redhat.com/knowledge/solutions/126233
- The migration tool is unable to add required X509v3 extensions to the
Certification Authority (CA) certificate in environments where Red Hat
Enterprise Virtualization 2.1 was originally installed and then upgraded
to Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 2.2. The migration tool now detects
where this has occurred and displays a warning. The warning informs the
user that manual intervention is required to complete the migration and
that the steps to take are documented in this knowledge base article
(BZ#827361):
https://access.redhat.com/knowledge/solutions/135653
- Previously the migration tool was not updating the SSH private key files
correctly, preventing the use of the log collector utility to retrieve
host logs. The migration tool now updates the SSH private key files
correctly.
For environments where migration has already commenced the issue with the
key files must be fixed manually as described in this knowledge base
article (BZ#815417):
https://access.redhat.com/knowledge/solutions/129633
All users planning a migration from Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 2.2
to Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.0 must install this updated
rhevm-migration-tool package.
For users planning a new migration it is highly recommended that you
