RHBA-2012:0520 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
Red Hat Network Satellite server spacewalk-java bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated Red Hat Network Satellite packages that fix several bugs are now
available for Red Hat Network Satellite Server 5.4.
Description
Red Hat Network (RHN) Satellite provides a solution to organizations requiring
absolute control over and privacy of the maintenance and package deployment of
their servers. It allows organizations to utilize the benefits of the Red Hat
Network without having to provide public Internet access to their servers or
other client systems.
This update fixes the following bugs:
- Prior to this update, certain conditions could make loading the System
Overview page or using the listActiveSystems() or listInactiveSystems() API
methods take a long time, eventually timing out and returning a Service
Temporarily Unavailable error. This update improves the performance of both
operations so that the timeout limit is not reached. (BZ#790100)
- Previously, users were unable to sync errata from channels that had been
cloned off of a different channel. The sync operation would fail with an error
caused by java.lang.ClassCastException, "java.util.HashSet incompatible with
java.util.List" or "java.lang.Long incompatible with java.lang.Integer". This
update ensures that users are able to sync the errata for any channel,
regardless of how it was created. (BZ#728572)
- Previously, the Virtualization tab of the System Details pages was shown or
hidden depending on if the system had a Virtualization or Virtualization
Platform entitlement. Since Flex Guest entitlements have replaced the
Virtualization and Virtualization Platform entitlements, there was no way to
reach that tab if you had recently renewed your account. This update ensures
that any system that is not virtual and has a Management entitlement can see the
Virtualization tab. (BZ#805932)
- Prior to this update, showing the difference between two versions of a saved
configuration file could take a long time and eventually fail with an error. If
the configuration file was moderately large and had many changes between the
versions, attempting to display the changes would cause an Internal Server Error
to be displayed to the user and Tomcat would log an Out Of Memory error. This
update ensures that we can determine the differences in the files without
running out of memory. (BZ#729210)
- Previously, users who tried to change the operating system of a kickstart
profile were presented with an Internal Server Error if there was not also a
required option set on a different page. There was no way for the user to know
that the required option was in fact required. This update ensures that the
required option is automatically set correctly. (BZ#751681)
- Prior to this update, the System Set Manager would only look at the number of
physical entitlements you had available when attempting to subscribe your
systems to child channels. The user could only consume Flex Guest entitlements
if he also had physical entitlements available. This update ensures that the
System Set Manager allows you to consume Flex Guest entitlements even if you
have no physical entitlements remaining. (BZ#716484)
- Previously, users who attempted to schedule a package installation and a
custom remote command at the same time were presented with a Method Not Allowed
error. This update ensures that users can do both at the same time without
error. (BZ#760810)
- Prior to this update, using the API method configChannel.deployAllSystems()
incorrectly deployed all configuration files in all configuration channels to
all systems instead of just the configuration channel specified. This update
ensures that we only deploy the configuration files in the specified channel.
(BZ#804782)
- Previously, cloning a channel from a channel that is itself a clone would
result in missing packages in the new channel. This update ensures that cloning
a channel always results in the proper packages being included, regardless of
how many generations of clones it takes to get back to the original channel.
(BZ#805714)
All users of Red Hat Network Satellite server are advised to upgrade to these
updated packages, which fix these bugs.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure all previously-released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
This update is available via the Red Hat Network. Details on how to
