Synopsis

Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
An updated rhev-hypervisor6 package that fixes various bugs is now available.
Description
The rhev-hypervisor6 package provides a Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization
Hypervisor ISO disk image. The Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Hypervisor
is a dedicated Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM) hypervisor. It includes
everything necessary to run and manage virtual machines: A subset of the
Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating environment and the Red Hat Enterprise
Virtualization Agent.
Note: Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Hypervisor is only available for
the Intel 64 and AMD64 architectures with virtualization extensions.
This updated package provides updated components that include fixes for
various security issues. These issues have no security impact on Red Hat
Enterprise Virtualization Hypervisor itself, however. The security fixes
included in this update address the following CVE numbers:
CVE-2011-3905 and CVE-2011-3919 (libxml2 issues)
This updated package has been built to include updated vdsm and libvirt
packages in the hypervisor ISO image. The updated package versions are:
libvirt-0.9.4-23.el6_2.4
vdsm-4.9-112.4.el6_2
Further information on the changes made to each package is available on the
relevant errata:
vdsm: https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHBA-2012-0012.html libvirt: https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHBA-2012-0013.html
This updated package also fixes the following bugs:
- Previously, when an NIC was added to a bridge LRO would not automatically
be disabled if a bond was also present. The use of a bond and a bridge on
top of NICs using LRO presented serious performance degradation. This update
ensures that LRO is disabled on all NICs, avoiding this performance
degradation issue (BZ#773675).
- Previously, registering to RHN during autoinstall would fail. This was due
to the wrong RHN registration command being called. This patch changes this
logic, calling the correct RHN registration command (BZ#773676).
Users of the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Hypervisor are advised to
upgrade to this updated package, which fixes these bugs.
