Topic
An updated caching-nameserver package that fixes a bug is now available.
Description
The caching-nameserver package includes the configuration files which will
make BIND, the DNS name server, act as a simple caching nameserver.
This update addresses the following issue:
- previously, updating the caching-nameserver package updated default
configuration files such as /etc/named.conf. (Note: this has been the
behavior of the updater since Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 was released in
October 2003.) In some unusual circumstances, however, this behavior could
cause customized configuration files to be over-written with default files
when caching-nameserver was updated. With this update, configuration files
such as /etc/named.conf are marked as "noreplace" in the package's .spec
file, ensuring custom configuration files are not over-written, no matter
the circumstance. (BZ#562748)
caching-nameserver users should upgrade to this updated package, which
resolves this issue.
