RHBA-2009:1135 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
kernel bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
Updated kernel packages that fix a bug are now available for Red Hat
Enterprise Linux 5.
Description
The kernel packages contain the Linux kernel, the core of any Linux
operating system.
This updated package addresses the following bug:
- in the Network File System (NFS) client, information being shared between
two processes (destroy_super and nfs_access_cache_shrinker) became invalid
mid-process. This could result in system crash and "Busy inode" messages.
The shared information is now synchronized with umount via the
s_umount_semaphore, and the error no longer presents. (BZ#501237)
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 users are advised to upgrade to this updated
package, which resolves this issue.
