RHBA-2009:1047 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
lvm2-cluster bug fix and enhancement update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
An updated lvm2-cluster package that fixes various bugs and adds
enhancements is now available.
Description
The lvm2-cluster package contains support for Logical Volume Management in
a clustered environment.
This update ensures that the bugs fixed by the lvm2 advisory,
RHBA-2009:8228, and the device-mapper advisory, RHBA-2009:8223, are also
fixed in a clustered environment.
Additionally, this updated package fixes the following bugs:
- A race condition existed in clvmd during startup which would result in a
deadlock. This update includes a patch for clvmd that locks the LVM thread
at a different point during startup. This avoids the race condition and
therefore the deadlock.
- lvm2-cluster is rebased from version 2.02.37 to 2.02.42. This introduces
around 90 changes to the package, including:
- fixes uninitialized mutex in clvmd if all daemons are not running at
start up.
- doesn't call openlog for every debug line output by clvmd.
- make clvmd return at once if other nodes down in a gulm or openais cluster.
- fixes missing mutex wneh clvmd drops internal cached metadata.
For a complete description of changes, please refer to the WHATS_NEW file
in the src.rpm package.
Important: This update must be applied along with the lvm2 advisory,
RHBA-2009:8228, and the device-mapper advisory, RHBA-2009:8223.
All lvm2-cluster users are advised to upgrade to this updated package,
which resolves these issues and adds these enhancements.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
To update all RPMs for your particular architecture, run:
rpm -Fvh [filenames]
where [filenames] is a list of the RPMs you wish to upgrade. Only those
RPMs which are currently installed will be updated. Those RPMs which are
not installed but included in the list will not be updated. Note that you
can also use wildcards (*.rpm) if your current directory *only* contains the
desired RPMs.
Please note that this update is also available via Red Hat Network. Many
people find this an easier way to apply updates. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:
up2date
This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
