RHBA-2009:1008 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
mkinitrd bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
An updated mkinitrd package that fixes various bugs is now available.
Description
The mkinitrd utility creates file system images for use as initial ramdisk
(initrd) images.
This updated mkinitrd package includes fixes for the following bugs:
- the virtio_pci driver is now included in the file system images produced
by mkinitrd whenever the virtio_blk driver is.
- support has been added to nash, the linuxrc image script interpreter, for
kernel arguments with spaces enclosed in quotes. Previously, arguments
which included spaces could have been handled incorrectly and had
unexpected results.
All users of mkinitrd are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which
resolves these issues.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released
errata relevant to your system have been applied.
This update is available via Red Hat Network. Details on how to use
