Bug Fix Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
An updated sosreport package that fixes several bugs and adds various
enhancements is now available.
Description
sosreport is a tool that collects information about a system, such as which
kernel is running, what drivers are loaded, and scans various configuration
files for common services. It also performs some simple diagnostics against
known problematic patterns.
This updated sosreport package provides fixes for the following bugs:
- sosreport became unresponsive in a virtualized environment if the xend
daemon had not been started.
- sos Python scripts now use an explicitly-defined path in the bang line in
order to locate the Python interpreter instead of relying on the "env"
mechanism, which is helpful in situations where multiple versions of Python
are installed.
- sysreport.legacy is now able to run even if the HOME environment variable
is not set.
In addition, this updated package provides the following enhancements:
- the krb5.conf configuration file is now captured for use in reports.
- extended output in virtualized environments is now captured from the "xm
list" and "xm list --long" commands.
- output from systems running Openswan and/or IPSec is now captured.
- new support for /root/anaconda-ks.cfg is included in this updated package.
- it is now possible to run sosreport unattended.
Users are advised to upgrade to this updated sosreport package, which
resolves these issues and adds these enhancements.
