Topic
An updated system-config-bind package that fixes several bugs is now
available.
Description
system-config-bind provides a graphical user interface (GUI) to configure
the Berkeley Internet Name Domain (BIND) Domain Name System (DNS) server.
This update applies the following fixes and enhancements:
- The system-config-bind manual (in PDF format) can now be read using any
PDF reader, including Evince. In previous releases, system-config-bind did
not allow users to view the manual if Evince was the only PDF reader installed.
- Users can now perform subdomain delegation in the main domain
configuration file through system-config-bind. The "Domain Name" field in
the dialog box for adding nameserver records can now be edited.
- When users created a new Access Control List (ACL) and saved it,
system-config-bind previously assigned its key list (instead of its name
string) to the "name" variable. As a result, a traceback occurred whenever
a user attempted to use a saved named ACL for any functions (such as "Allow
Transfer"). This required users to restart system-config-bind after
creating a named ACL in order to use it. With this update,
system-config-bind now assigns the correct string to the "name" variable,
allowing users to use an ACL as soon as it is created and saved.
- system-config-bind now updates the rndc key properly even when it is
located outside of named.conf. In previous releases, system-config-bind did
not handle the statement 'include' in named.conf properly, preventing users
from editing and saving rndc key information.
- A bug that prevented system-config-bind from saving the configurations of
delegation-only zones is now fixed.
- A typographical error in the error message displayed when no Internet
access is available is nof fixed.
- bitmap-fonts is now required by system-config-bind. This package provides
font files required by system-config-bind to start on systems not
configured with a graphical desktop environment.
Users of system-config-bind are advised to upgrade to this update in order
to apply these fixes and enhancements.
