Synopsis
ethtool bug fix and enhancement update

Bug Fix Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
An updated ethtool package that fixes various bugs and adds an enhancement
is now available.
Description
The ethtool utility allows the querying and changing of ethernet adapter
settings, such as speed, port, and autonegotiation.
This updated package upgrades ethtool from version 5 to version 6, which
fixes the following bugs:
- running "ethtool" against an interface that has a 10GbE network card may
have resulted in ethtool reporting "Speed: Unknown! (10000)". In this
update, the correct speed, "Speed: 10000Mb/s", is returned.
- the "ethtool -s eth[x] speed 10000" command failed when run against a
network interface that used a 10GbE network card. In this update, the
"ethtool -s eth[x] speed 10000" command works correctly on 10GbE network
cards.
Users of ethtool are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which
resolves these issues and adds this enhancement.
