Synopsis
kudzu bug fix and enhancement update

Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated kudzu packages that fix several bugs and add an enhancement are now
available.
Description
Kudzu is a hardware-probing tool that runs while the system boots to
determine what hardware has been added or removed from the system.
These updated kudzu packages provide fixes for the following bugs:
- in the presence of wireless devices, kudzu improperly wrote a network
configuration file which would start on boot. However, this network
configuration file would always fail due to missing configuration for
network and/or encryption keys. With these updated packages, kudzu writes a
configuration that does not start on boot so that this information can be
added later.
- the management module for NetXen Gigabit Ethernet was incorrectly
identified as a network device. In these updated packages, it is classified
as a bridge, and it is correctly no longer shown as a usable device.
- on mainframe platforms, the network configuration was removed if devices
were set to "offline" in a z/VM virtualized environment. With these updated
packages, kudzu leaves the configuration alone, as expected.
- systems with USB CDC ethernet devices caused Anaconda to crash when it
was attempting to install the system. This no longer occurs with these
updated packages.
- in the presence of wireless devices that have a wmaster0 network
interface, kudzu would improperly write a network configuration file. With
these updated packages, kudzu properly ignores them.
In addition, these updated kudzu packages provide an enhancement in the way
of upport for virtio devices, which allows installing Red Hat Enterprise
Linux 5 into a KVM virtio guest image.
Users are advised to upgrade to these updated kudzu packages, which resolve
these issues and add this enhancement.
