Synopsis
dmraid bug fix update

Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated dmraid packages which resolve an issue and add support for Intel
Software RAID are now available.
Description
The dmraid package contains the ATARAID/DDF1 activation tool that supports
RAID device discovery, RAID set activation, and displays properties for
ATARAID/DDF1 formated RAID sets on Linux kernels using device-mapper.
This updated package fixes the following issue:
- the dmraid utility did not properly handle compound RAID sets in group
sets, which could cause systems to be unable to boot. Only the superset's
name could be used on the command line, but subset names could not be. In
these updated packages, this has been fixed so that dmraid is able to find
RAID devices specified by subset name, thus resolving the issue.
In addition, these updated packages provide the following enhancements and
functionality for Intel Software RAID (isw metadata):
- support for creating and deleting RAID sets.
- support for rebuilding RAID sets after device failure in RAID levels 0 and 5.
- support for managing hot spare devices to replace failed drives.
All users of dmraid should upgrade to these updated packages, which resolve
this issue and provide these enhancements.
