RHBA-2008:0694 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
make bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
An updated make package that fixes a bug is now available.
Description
GNU make is a tool for controlling the generation of executables and other
non-source files of a program from the program's source files. Make allows
users to build and install packages without any significant knowledge about
the details of the build process.
This updated make package fixes a bug in which make wouldn't remember which
dependencies of a pattern rule were order-only, and would then wrongly
infer the value of special variables such as "$^" (without quotes).
Users are advised to upgrade to this updated make package, which resolves
this issue.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released
errata relevant to your system have been applied.
This update is available via Red Hat Network. Details on how to use
the Red Hat Network to apply this update are available at
