RHBA-2008:0518 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
am-utils bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
An updated am-utils package that fixes a bug is now available.
Description
The am-utils package provides the BSD automounter, Amd, which maintains a
cache of mounted file systems. File systems are mounted when they are first
referenced by a user, and unmounted after a period of inactivity.
The Amd daemon opened a new socket each time it performed an LDAP query.
These sockets were never closed, eventually leading to a segmentation
fault.
Users of am-utils are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which
resolves this issue.
