RHBA-2008:0483 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
libspe2 bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated libspe2 packages that fix several bugs are now available.
Description
The SPE Runtime Management Library, libspe, constitutes the standardized
low-level API for application access to the Cell Broadband Engine's
Synergistic Processing Elements (SPEs). The API is neutral with respect to
the underlying operating system and its SPE management methods.
These updated packages upgrade the libspe 2.0 library to the latest
upstream version as of 2007-12-07, and include a number of bug fixes,
including fixes for performance issues, that were present in the Red Hat
Enterprise Linux 5.1 libspe 2.0 release.
Users of libspe2 are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which
resolve these issues.

Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released
errata relevant to your system have been applied.
