RHBA-2007:0750 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
nfs-utils bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
An updated nfs-utils package that fixes various bugs is now available.
Description
The nfs-utils package provides a daemon for the kernel NFS server and
related tools, providing a much higher level of performance than the
traditional Linux NFS server used by most users.
This package also contains the showmount program. showmount queries the
mount daemon on a remote host for information about the Network File
System (NFS) server on the remote host.
Bugs fixed in this updated package include:
- gssd no longer requires that the server be running a portmap service.
- two memory leaks in mountd.
- a string handling bug in mountd when dealing with long export lines.
- a race condition between mountd and exportfs that could cause mountd not
to see the new export table.
- the rpcgssd, rpcidmapd and rpcsvcgssd init scripts were changed to
handle and return the correct status codes.
As well, a documentation file named README.FIRST.NFS.RHEL4 was added to
warn users that the HTML documentation included in the package is
obsolete.
All nfs-utils users should upgrade to this updated package, which resolves
these issues.
