RHBA-2006:0507 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
mdadm bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
Updated mdadm packages that address a bug are now available.
Description
The mdadm package is used to create, manage, and monitor Linux MD (software
RAID) devices. As such, it provides similar functionality to the raidtools
package. However, mdadm is a single program, and it can perform almost all
functions without a configuration file, though a configuration file can be
used to help with some common tasks.
A problem was uncovered in the portion of code mdadm uses when monitoring
arrays and sending emails to system administrators alerting them of
degraded arrays. This bug could result in administrators failing to
receive notice of degraded arrays under certain conditions. The same bug
also affected the program when run in one-shot mode to check for degraded
arrays.
Users of mdadm should upgrade to these updated packages, which resolve this
issue.
