RHBA-2006:0235 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
gnbd-kernel bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
Updated gnbd-kernel packages that fix module loading issues are now
available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 Update 3, kernel release
(2.6.9-34.EL).
Description
The gnbd-kernel package contains modules that allow the gnbd (Global Network
Block Device) to communicate with the kernel.
These updated gnbd-kernel packages are in sync with the latest kernel
(2.6.9-34.EL). The modules in earlier gnbd-kernel packages fail to load
because they do not match the running kernel. It is possible to force load
the modules; however, this update alleviates users from having to do so.
Users are advised to upgrade to these latest gnbd-kernel packages, which
are updated for use with the 2.6.9-34.EL kernel.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
This update is available via Red Hat Network. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:
up2date
This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
