RHBA-2006:0141 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
gdb bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
Updated gdb packages that fix various bugs are now available.
Description
GDB, the GNU debugger, allows debugging of programs written in C, C++,
and other languages, by executing them in a controlled fashion and then
printing their data.
This updated package addresses the following issues:
- GDB on Itanium had a problem if the user specified non-default handling
of SIGILL.
- GDB on Itanium was having problems with backtraces across a switch from
signal stack to regular stack which occurs when the user program uses
the C sigaltstack function.
- GDB on code using LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1 was not providing as much
backtrace information as earlier versions of gdb due to a zero pc
value.
- GDB attaching to a stopped process was hanging.
- GDB had an extraneous free call which was freeing a pointer that
was not allocated in some cases.
- GDB was sometimes issuing a "partial die in cache" error message.
- GDB used on a threaded program would sometimes fail with an internal
assertion regarding the pid value coming back from a waitpid not
being the expected value.
All users of gdb should upgrade to these updated packages, which resolve
these issues.
