Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated gaim packages that fix multiple bugs and enhance security are now
available.
Description
The Gaim application is a multi-protocol instant messaging client.
This update enables the compiler options FORTIFY_SOURCE and relro. A
combination of these enhances the runtime security of the gaim application.
Users of the AIM/ICQ protocol may be seeing frequent "Rate Limit" errors
during program runtime. This update fixes this issue and numerous other
crash and behavior issues.
Users of gaim should upgrade to these updated packages, which resolve these
issues.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
This update is available via Red Hat Network. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:
up2date
This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
