Type: Bug Fix Advisory
Severity: N/A
Issued on: 2005-09-28
Last updated on: 2005-09-28

Details

Updated util-linux and mount packages that fix several bugs are now
available.

The util-linux package contains a collection of basic system utilities.
The mount package contains a utility that makes a file system available for
use.

This update adds the following features to the mount command:
- support for systems where the same partition is shared between different
devices (e.g. multipath kernel drivers)
- support for OCFS and OCFS2 file systems

This update also fixes the following bugs:
- An issue with the group password in the newgrp command
- A hang on FSC P250 in the hwclock command
- An incomplete man page for the umount command
- An incorrect label in the ipcs command output
- Incorrect information in the fstab man page
- The /etc/shadow and /etc/gshadow permissions after the vipw command usage
- A buffer overflow in the sfdisk command
- An exit if the NFS server drops the request for the mount command with
the "fg" option
- A default TCP retransmit timeout on NFS mounts
- The mount command and am-utils use different mtab locking

All users of util-linux and mount should upgrade to these updated packages,
which resolve these issues.
