RHBA-2005:449 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
Updated grep package
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
An updated grep package that improves performance is now available.
Description
Grep searches through textual input for lines matching a regular expression.
Performance when processing input encoded in UTF-8 has been improved.
Additionally, two small fixes have been made for cases where a match was
present, but not detected, for example:
- some situations with fgrep or grep -F
- case-insensitive matching with some character classes
All users of grep should upgrade to this updated package, which resolves
these issues.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released
errata relevant to your system have been applied. Use Red Hat
