RHBA-2005:163 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
ncurses bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
An updated ncurses package that correctly handles external application
input and output is available.
Description
The curses library routines are a terminal-independent method of
updating character screens with reasonable optimization. The ncurses
(new curses) library is a freely distributable replacement for the
discontinued 4.4BSD classic curses library.
When an application using ncurses launches an external application, output
is not displayed correctly. Newlines execute a linefeed without a
carriage return. Additionaly, the terminal may not be reset to a usable
condition upon return from the external application.
Users of text-based cursor driven applications should upgrade to this
package, which resolves this issue.
