RHBA-2005:117 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
initscripts bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
An updated initscripts package that fixes various bugs is now available.
Description
The initscripts package contains the basic system scripts used to boot
your Red Hat system, change runlevels, and shut the system down
cleanly. Initscripts also contains the scripts that activate and
deactivate most network interfaces.
Bugs fixed in this release include:
- corrected handling of ONBOOT
- corrected handling MASTER and other configuration directives in the
presence of commented-out values
- dhcp clients are now killed on ifdown if the interface was changed to
static configuration in the interim
- ETHTOOL_OPTS is supported on addressless devices
All users of the initscripts package should upgrade to this updated
package, which resolves these issues.
