Advisory: RHBA-2002:198-03
Type: Bug Fix Advisory
Severity: N/A
Issued on: 2002-09-11
Last updated on: 2002-11-22
Affected Products: Red Hat Linux 7.1 for zSeries
Red Hat Linux 7.2

Updated kernel packages are now available for Red Hat Linux 7.1 s390x and
Red Hat Linux 7.2 s390.

These updates fix bugs with DB2 and the IBM JDK.

The updated kernel packages fix two bugs that are present in the current
released kernel packages:

- 31bit emu patch that fixes IBM JDK testsuite failures.

Without this patch the JDK may fail under heavy load for some applications.

- Shared memory problem fix for DB2.

Without this patch under extreme load and/or with specific testsuites DB2

Users of applications using the IBM JDK (such as websphere) or DB2 should
update to these errata packages in order to fix these bugs.

Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.

To update all RPMs for your particular architecture, run:

rpm -Fvh [filenames]

where [filenames] is a list of the RPMs you wish to upgrade. Only those
RPMs which are currently installed will be updated. Those RPMs which are
not installed but included in the list will not be updated. Note that you
can also use wildcards (*.rpm) if your current directory *only* contains the
desired RPMs.

Please note that this update is also available via Red Hat Network. Many
people find this an easier way to apply updates. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:

This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
