RHEA-2014:1802 - Product Enhancement Advisory
Synopsis
nfs-utils enhancement update
Type/Severity
Product Enhancement Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated nfs-utils packages that add two enhancements are now available for Red
Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Extended Update Support.
Description
The nfs-utils packages provide a daemon for the kernel Network File System (NFS)
server and related tools, which provides better performance than the traditional
Linux NFS server used by most users. These packages contain the mount.nfs,
umount.nfs, and showmount programs.
This update adds the following enhancements:
- IPv6 is now a supported address type, and the exportfs utility can thus use
IPv6 addresses to export file systems. (BZ#1133837)
- A new "nordirplus" option has been implemented for the exportfs utility for
NFSv3. This option allows the user to disable READDIRPLUS requests for the given
NFSv3 export, and thus prevent unwanted disk access in certain scenarios.
(BZ#1133835)
Users of nfs-utils are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which add
these enhancements. After installing this update, the nfs service will be
restarted automatically.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
