Synopsis
new packages: rhs-hadoop and rhs-hadoop-install
Type/Severity
Product Enhancement Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
New rhs-hadoop and rhs-hadoop-install packages are now available for Red Hat
Storage 3.
Description
Red Hat Storage is a software-only scale-out storage solution that provides
flexible and affordable unstructured data storage. Red Hat Storage 3.0 unifies
data storage and infrastructure, increases performance, and improves
availability and manageability to meet enterprise-level storage challenges.
This enhancement update adds the rhs-hadoop and rhs-hadoop-install packages to
the Red Hat Common channel.
This update enhances the Hadoop plug-in, which enables Hadoop distributions to
run on Red Hat Storage 3.0. The plug-in is now fully supported and enables the
user to run in-place analytics on data stored on a Red Hat Storage server
without the need to prepare and move data into a file system built specifically
for Hadoop workloads.
The rhs-hadoop-install package contains an updated plug-in that now supports
both new and existing Red Hat Storage clusters as well as the use of multiple
volumes. (BZ#1148600)
All users of Red Hat Storage who require rhs-hadoop and rhs-hadoop-install are
advised to install these new packages.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
To update all RPMs for your particular architecture, run:
rpm -Fvh [filenames]
where [filenames] is a list of the RPMs you wish to upgrade. Only those
RPMs which are currently installed will be updated. Those RPMs which are
not installed but included in the list will not be updated. Note that you
can also use wildcards (*.rpm) if your current directory *only* contains the
desired RPMs.
Please note that this update is also available via Red Hat Network. Many
people find this an easier way to apply updates. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:
up2date
This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
Details on how to use the Red Hat Network are available at
