RHEA-2014:0059 - Product Enhancement Advisory
Synopsis
spice-usbclerk enhancement update
Type/Severity
Product Enhancement Advisory
Topic
An updated spice-usbclerk package which provides an enhancement is now
available.
Description
The usbclerk package provides a new service, USBClerk, that is able to install
and uninstall Windows USB drivers (specifically the WinUSB driver) in guest
virtual machines.
The SPICE client (virt-viewer) sends requests to install or uninstall the driver
for USB devices when users connect or disconnect USB devices to or from a guest.
This update provides the following enhancement:
- The usbclerk service is no longer installed during IE/CAB install time, since
it required administrator permissions and was hard to install correctly on
various Windows versions. Instead, usbclerk is now provided as a stand-alone MSI
installer. (BZ#984137)
Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization users who need to share USB devices with guest
virtual machines from Windows client machines should install this package.
