RHEA-2013:1855 - Product Enhancement Advisory
Synopsis
JON Agent RPM update for JON 3.2.0 for EAP 6
Type/Severity
Product Enhancement Advisory
Topic
package updates: JBoss Operations Network 3.2.0 jboss-on-agent
Description
A new jboss-on-agent package is available for JBoss Operations Network
3.2.0 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 with JBoss Enterprise Application
Platform 6.
JBoss Operations Network provides detailed monitoring, alerting,
configuration management, and application and content deployment for a
variety of different resource types, including JBoss products and platforms
such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows. JBoss Operations Network
includes both a server and an agent which installed on each managed system.
IMPORTANT: As of version 3.2.0, all JON server installations now include a
matching agent install, which is automatically included and imported into
inventory, for consistent management of the scalable metric storage system.
This means that the agent should no longer be installed using RPM or yum
onto any platform where a JON 3.2.x or later server is running. All other
agent RPM installations on managed platforms will continue to work as they
have in previous releases.
This new version of jboss-on-agent package provides several important bug
fixes:
- Deploying a WAR file on EAP 6 standalone servers failed while the agent
was downloading the content. (BZ#1016112)
- Some agents experienced slow shutdowns. (BZ#1009658)
- If an incorrect server endpoint was set in the agent configuration, the
agent could lose its token and have an invalid registration. (BZ#963982)
- Changes in the agent concurrency functions have improved the performance
with large topologies. (BZ#991153)
- Some configurations of disabled plug-ins and ignored resources could
result in high CPU usage. (BZ#923210)
- Synchronization issues could occur when the server was put into
maintenance mode and agent availability was backfilled. (BZ#913606)
- If the database was in an inconsistent state, some resources could be
erroneously set to the UNKNOWN availability state. (BZ#881848)
- Agent shutdown hung if there were open threads to the agent. (BZ#1008570)
- When a platform was not yet added to inventory, the agent log could be
filled with spurious error messages. (BZ#856846)
Users who are managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 resources with JBoss
Operations Network 3.2.0 should install these new packages.
