RHEA-2012:1536 - Product Enhancement Advisory
Synopsis
spice-activex-win enhancement update
Type/Severity
Product Enhancement Advisory
Topic
An updated spice-activex-win package is now available.
Description
The spice-activex-win package provides an ActiveX plug-in for Internet Explorer
that enables users of Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager to connect to
virtual machines using Spice.
The updated ActiveX plug-in is released as part of the rhevm-spice-client
package.
This updated package fixes the following bugs:
- The SPICE ActiveX plug-in previously did not print enough debug information in
spicex.log to facilitate debugging of SSL-related problems. This has changed:
the plug-in now provides enough debug information to spicex.log to facilitate
debugging of SSL-related problems. (BZ#592738)
- The SPICE ActiveX plug-in previously did not permit the Red Hat Enterprise
Virtualization Manager User Portal to start a client other than the SPICE
Client. It is now possible to permit the Manager User Portal to start a client
other than Spice Client (virt-viewer, for instance). (BZ#785260)
- The plug-in now passes WAN options (for instance, --disable-effects and
- -color-depth) to spice-client. (BZ#787450)
- USB redirection support previously did not pass USB support options to the
spice-client. New USB support now passes options to the spice-client. The
controller interface has been extended and now features three new commands:
CONTROLLER_ENABLE_USB, CONTROLLER_ENABLE_USB_AUTOSHARE, and
CONTROLLER_USB_FILTER. (BZ#807302)
- Previously, "s" was prepended to secure channels. Secure channels no longer
have "s" prepended to their names. (BZ#836773)
All administrators of Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization environments are advised
to install these updated packages.
