RHEA-2009:1558 - Product Enhancement Advisory
Synopsis
New package: xfsprogs
Type/Severity
Product Enhancement Advisory
Topic
xfsprogs, a new package that provides tools for managing XFS file systems,
is now available.
Description
xfsprogs contains a set of commands to use the XFS filesystem, including
mkfs.xfs.
XFS is a high-performance journaling file system which originated on the
SGI IRIX platform; it can support large files, large file systems, extended
attributes, and variable block sizes. XFS is completely multi-threaded, is
extent-based, and uses Btrees extensively to improve performance and
scalability. The XFS implementation used by Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 is
on-disk compatible with the IRIX version of XFS.
For more information about XFS, refer to http://oss.sgi.com/projects/xfs/.
Anyone managing systems with XFS file systems should install this new
package.
