RHEA-2009:0098 - Product Enhancement Advisory
Synopsis
cpuspeed enhancement update
Type/Severity
Product Enhancement Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
An enhanced cpuspeed package is now available.
Description
The cpuspeed package provides processor frequency scaling support.
Powernow-k8 enables processor frequency scaling on AMD K8 systems running
kernels where the powernow-k8 frequency scaling driver is built as a kernel
module, rather than compiled into the kernel.
This package adds the following enhancements:
- Userspace needed to support the loading of the new Powernow-k8 module
that has changed from being built in. By rectifying this bug, Userspace now
loads the new module correctly.
- The cpuspeed init script needed to support loading the speedstep-centrino
module if all other module loads had failed. This fallback for Intel
hardware is now included with this updated package.
Users of cpuspeed are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which
adds these enhancements.
