Type: Product Enhancement Advisory

Last updated on: 2008-05-21
Affected Products: RHEL Cluster-Storage (v. 5 server)

Details

A new package, isns-utils, is now available.

The Internet Storage Name Service (iSNS) protocol allows automated
discovery, management and configuration of iSCSI and Fibre Channel devices
(using iFCP gateways) on a TCP/IP network. The iSNS package contains the
daemon and tools to setup a iSNS server, as well as iSNS client tools.

This package is being released as a Technical Preview. The server has been
tested against a limited number of clients, including:
iscsi-initiator-utils, Microsoft initiator and iSCSI Enterprise Target (IET).

Technology Preview features are not currently supported under Red Hat
Enterprise Linux subscription services, may not be functionally complete,
and are generally not suitable for production use. Please visit
http://www.redhat.com/support/service/ for details on the Red Hat support
policies.

All users requiring iSNS Server capabilities should install this newly
released package, which adds this enhancement.
