Synopsis
system-config-kdump bug fix and enhancement update
Type/Severity

Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
An updated system-config-kdump package which fixes a bug and adds an
enhancement is now available.
Description
system-config-kdump is a graphical tool for configuring kernel crash
dumping via kdump and kexec.
This updated package fixes the following issue:
- in the previous system-config-kdump package, running system-config-kdump
on a xen kernel resulted in a "Sorry, Xen kernels do not support kdump at
this time!" error. This update adds support for running
system-config-kdump on xen kernels.
This update adds the following enhancement:
- xen kernels running on systems with more than 4GB of memory
require kernel-PAE for correct kdump support, otherwise kdump will not
create a complete dump. Users are now warned if they require the
kernal-PAE package to create kernel dumps.
Users of system-config-kdump are advised to upgrade to this updated
package, which fixes this bug and adds this enhancement.
