Details

Updated kernel-utils packages that update the microcode_ctl program to 1.13
are now available.

The kernel-utils package contains several utilities that can be used to
control your kernel or machine hardware.

One of these utilities is the microcode_ctl program, which updates the
microcode on Intel CPUs. This update includes a newer release (1.13), which
features updated microcode for older CPUs, as well as several newer CPU models.

Users of kernel-utils are advised to upgrade to these packages.


Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.

This update is available via Red Hat Network. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:

up2date

This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
