Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
An updated system-config-lvm package that provides extended functionality
as well as various bug fixes is now available.
Description
The system-config-lvm package contains a graphical user interface (GUI)
tool for managing logical volumes.
This updated version of system-config-lvm contains a number of
enhancements, such as support for snapshotting, resizing of existing
logical volumes, extended partitioning capabilities, and editing of volume
group and logical volume properties. In addition, a number of minor bugs
have been addressed.
Issues Addressed:
- A checkbox is now offered when creating an LV or editing LV properties.
When checked, an /etc/fstab entry is made if the LV is to be mounted.
- Support has been added for migrating physical extents off of one PV in a
Volume Group to another PV. This is handy when a sysadmin wishes to
decommission a disk device.
- Multiple paths to a disk entity are now displayed in the UI.
- A progress bar is now displayed when performing tasks that take time,
such as moving extents, resizing an LV, or deleting a PV from a VG that
holds data.
- LVs with either ext2 or ext3 file systems can now be grown and shrunk.
- Properties of an existing LV (such as mount point, size, file system
type, name, etc.) can now be modified.
- Unpartitioned free space is now visible to system-config-lvm, and
partitions can be created through the GUI.
- This is an optimization to make the UI faster.
- Snapshots of mounted LVs can now be created and mounted through the UI
- Bug fix for pointer lines obscuring extent label text.
- This bug fix makes small PVs or LVs more easily selectable.
- Bug fix for label names that occasionally extended beyond the perimeter
of the scrollable window.
- A bolding artifact that presented itself when the properties window was
scrolled has been fixed.
- Refactor of rendering code to afford more options for displayingspecific
LVM characteristics such as snapshots and mirrors.
- Disk entities now appear sorted in the tree view.
Users of system-config-lvm should upgrade to this updated package, which
contains these enhancements and bug fixes.
