Enhancement Advisory Updated Pax package allows LSB conformance testing

Advisory: RHEA-2002:274-07
Type: Product Enhancement Advisory
Severity: N/A
Issued on: 2003-02-21
Last updated on: 2003-02-17
Affected Products: Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS (v. 2.1)
Red Hat Linux Advanced Workstation 2.1 for the Itanium Processor
OVAL: N/A

Details

The pax packages shipped with Red Hat Linux Advanced Server are not capable
of running the LSB conformance test system. This enhancement errata
release resolves this issue.

Pax is a replacement for cpio and tar. Versions of pax prior to 3.0 did
not provide the necessary functionality required for LSB conformance
testing. This errata updates the version of pax to 3.0 and addresses this
issue.

Pax is not installed by default on Red Hat Linux Advanced Server 2.1. Only
users who have installed pax and are interested in LSB conformance testing
should update to the errata packages.
