Bug Fix Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated OpenStack Block Storage packages that resolve various issues are
now available for Red Hat OpenStack Platform 10.0 (Newton) for RHEL 7.
Description
Red Hat OpenStack Platform provides the facilities for building, deploying
and monitoring a private or public infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) cloud
running on commonly available physical hardware. This advisory includes
packages for:
- OpenStack Block Storage service
OpenStack Block Storage (cinder) manages block storage mounting and the
presentation of such mounted block storage to instances. The back-end
physical storage can consist of local disks, Fiber Channel, iSCSI, and/or
NFS mounts attached to Compute nodes. In addition, Block Storage supports
volume backups, and snapshots for temporary save and restore operations.
Programmatic management is available through the Block Storage service's
API.
Changes to the openstack-cinder component:
- Cinder was unable to properly delete the volume metadata foreign keys which caused the 'cinder-manage db purge' command to fail. The problem has been fixed. Now, the 'cinder-manage db purge' will not fail because of that reason. If you have experienced the issue, repair the volume_metadata db tables.
- Concurrent requests to create a cinder volume from the same glance image could result in multiple entries in cinder image cache. Consequently, more disk space was used than necessary. A synchronization lock has been added that prevents multiple entries in the image cache. As a result no more than one entry in the cinder image cache will be generated.
Changes to the python-cinderclient component:
- The cinder client did not support keystone v3 properly. Consequently, any attempts to use the keystone v3 API would fail. The problems has been fixed. Now, the cinder client correctly works with keystone v3.
Solution
Before applying this update, ensure all previously released errata relevant
to your system have been applied.
Red Hat OpenStack Platform 10 runs on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3.
